Ukrainian Cooperative of Blueberry Producers is Preparing a Batch of Products for Export
This season, the cooperative plans to collect about 400 tons of Duke blueberries.
Created this year, the cooperative of Ukrainian producers of organic and conventional blueberries Big Berry Coop begins supplying products to the international and domestic markets, reports Agri-gator.
The members of the first blueberry cooperative are three Ukrainian producers: BigBlue Organic Blueberry Farm, Grass Avenue, and Agricultural Production Cooperative (APC) “Oboloniya”. According to Big Berry Coop, the cooperative works according to the international standard of safe food production in agriculture GlobalG.A.P. In a cooperative, every step has been thought out from planting to collecting and storing the cold chain and, as a result, to exporting products.
According to the owner of APC “Oboloniya” Viktor Dytynko, this season it is planned to collect about 400 tons of Duke blueberries from the cooperative.
Now the first test batch is being prepared for delivery to the international market. According to Victor, the export of berries was not affected by the restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, and there were no problems with the logistics in the cooperative.
According to the expert, Poland and the Netherlands are interested in Ukrainian products.
Along with export delivery, Big Berry Coop products will also be sent to the domestic market for sale. Parties of the organic blueberry cooperative will soon appear on the Metro and Auchan networks.
Recently, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi said that the potential of the internal market of organics in Ukraine remains substantially unrealized.
“In order to implement this task, a series of draft laws have been adopted in Ukraine. And today our goal is to resolve this issue by September of this year. After this block is completed, we will be able to actually proceed to the phase of building up the organic sector,” the deputy minister said. He also noted that in order to support the development of organic products, the Ministry developed a mechanism of state support. However, he expressed the hope that it will be approved by the parliament at the beginning of next year.
